XML Professional Publisher (XPP) is an automated XML based publishing system that was developed out of a proprietary typesetting system. XPP is a standards-based, content formatting and publishing application for the automatic composition, transformation, and rendering of XML, SGML or tagged ACII content into high-quality output into PostScript and PDF format. It holds the XML or SGML in its native format and it is able to re-export the data after paper pagination, even if corrections have been made in XPP. The software is used worldwide to produce a wide variety of publications including Technical Documentation, Scientific, Medical Journals (STM) Directory, Dictionary and Legal loose-leaf publishing. XPP was originally, in the early 1980s, a proprietary system which included the software and hardware.

Speech Recognition Grammar Specification

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Speech Recognition Grammar Specification (SRGS) is a W3C standard for how speech recognition grammars are specified. A speech recognition grammar is a set of word patterns, and tells a speech recognition system what to expect a human to say. For instance, if you call a voice directory application, it will prompt you for the name of the person you would like to talk with. It will then start up a speech recognizer, giving it a speech recognition grammar. This grammar contains the names of the people in the directory, and the various sentence patterns callers typically respond with. SRGS specifies two alternate but logically equivalent syntaxes, one based on XML, and one using Augmented BNF format. In practice, the XML syntax is used more frequently. If the speech recognizer returned just a string containing the actual words spoken by the user, the voice application would have to do the tedious job of extracting the semantic meaning from those words. For this reason, SRGS grammars can be decorated with tag elements, which when executed, build up the semantic result.

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. XML Enabled Directory (XED) is a framework for managing objects represented using the Extensible Markup Language (XML). XED builds on X.500 and LDAP directory services technologies. XED was originally designed in 2003 by Steven Legg of eB2Bcom (formerly of Adacel Technologies) and Daniel Prager (formerly of Deakin University). The XML Enabled Directory (XED) framework leverages existing Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) and X.500 directory technology to create a directory service that stores, manages and transmits Extensible Markup Language (XML) format data, while maintaining interoperability with LDAP clients, X.500 Directory User Agents (DUAs), and X.500 Directory System Agents (DSAs). The XML Enabled Directory allows directory entries to contain XML formatted data as attribute values.
